- Edgar “Shoboy” Sotelo, host of Shoboy en la Mañana on KMVK/107.5 FM [MODERATOR]
One of radio’s brightest rising stars, Edgar “Shoboy” Sotelo was recognized by the NAB in 2011 with the Marconi Radio Award for Spanish Format Personality of the Year and became the first Latino to host the Marconi Radio Awards in 2012. “Shoboy en la manana” debuted May 17, 2010 on, CBS Radio’s Mega 107.5 in Dallas/Fort Worth and has since become one of the top-rated morning shows in the market which helped Mega win the prestigious Marconi Radio Award for Spanish Radio Station of the Year 2012. Sotelo’s energetic, passionate, and candid personality radiates fun throughout a program that features an innovative fusion of music, comedy, entertainment and community empowerment now on La Grande 107.5 Dallas/FortWorth (Regional Mexican Format).
Sotelo began his radio career as he became host of a Sunday night program on Los Angele’s “Generación 1020 La Solución.” In 2007 his message of “empowering Latinos to be the solution and not the problem” catapulted Sotelo to the position of afternoon drive host at La Kalle in San Francisco, where he quickly became a market ratings leader.
His success and infectious personality have led to Sotelo’s appearances on popular television shows including Un Nuevo Dia, Cristina, El Gordo y La Flaca, and Escandalo TV and has hosted the Chivas De la Guadalajara national soccer tour and the Mexican National Soccer team tour with Boost Mobile and The Home Depot in the past three years. - Janine Chapa, Vice President Agency Sales; State Farm
Janine Chapa, CLU, ChFC, CASL, is the Vice President Agency – Sales in the South Central Market Area. She joined State Farm in 1987 as an Auto Property Damage claim representative in Weslaco, Texas shortly thereafter; she became a Bodily Injury claim representative in San Antonio, Texas. In 1995, she accepted an opportunity as an Agency Field Specialist and in 1999 she was appointed as a State Farm Agent. In 2001, she became an Agency Field Consultant and in 2004 an Agency Field Executive in the San Antonio market area. Then in April of 2007 Janine was appointed an Agency Administrative Assistant in Corporate, where she worked on Women’s Initiatives in the Marketing Department and as a member of the Hispanic Growth Strategy team in MBDG, she worked on the AFE Hispanic Development Program. In 2008, Enterprise Services named Janine as the Director of After Hours Quote and Bind for Bloomington, Jacksonville and El Paso. In June 2009, she was named Executive Assistant. Janine was appointed Vice President Agency in the Texas Zone effective June 26, 2010.
She earned her bachelor’s degree from Pan American University in Edinburg, Texas. She has also received her CLU, ChFC and CASL designations.
She is an alum of the National Hispana Leadership Institute and currently a member of the Society of Financial Services Professionals, GAMA and HERO. She is married to Michael and is the proud mother of Lauren and Allison.
- Raul Magdaleno, Chief Education Consultant, Magdaleno LLC
Raul Magdaleno, serves as the Chief Education Consultant for The Magdaleno Group, providing innovative education strategies to corporations, non-profit, government agencies, universities and school districts who are committed to reducing the drop out rate and increasing college enrollment among urban students. Magdaleno is also the Founder and Chairman of The Magdaleno Leadership Institute, a non-profit organization devoted to building high school student servant leaders and position them to become the next ‘Navy Seals’ of community empowerment. Most recently, Magdaleno was appointed by the U.S. Senate Majority Leader and confirmed by Congress, to serve a four-year term on the U.S. Congressional National Board of Directors, Congress’s highest award for youth.
Prior to becoming the CEC, Magdaleno served as Special Assistant to the Dean and created the department of Diversity and Community Engagement for Southern Methodist University (SMU) Meadows School of the Arts. - Linda Valdez Thompson – EVP of Administration & Diversity, DFW International, Airport
Linda Valdez Thompson is the Executive Vice President of Administration and Diversity at the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. Linda is one of the highest-ranking Latinas in the aviation industry worldwide. She has been in this position since joining DFW Airport in 2001. In her role, she is responsible for providing strategic leadership to Human Resources, Procurement and Materials Management, Risk Management, and Business Diversity & Development. During her professional career, Linda has acquired executive experience working for Fortune 500 companies such as Levi Strauss, Hasbro, and Baxter Health Care.
A recognized diversity leader known for her strategic vision and ability to achieve business goals, Linda has built a reputation for consistently delivering results that align with business goals, strategic initiatives and performance.
Linda oversees the Airport’s award-winning business diversity program that continues to create significant economic opportunity for North Texas’ minority and women-owned businesses. Also among Linda’s achievements are the successful implementation of the Diversity Leadership Council and several Employee Resource Groups to create an inclusive workplace to support the development and promotion of a diverse workforce.
